New Life Celebration Church – A Brief History

November 2000 -- JR Henderson was hired as a Church Plant Missionary to explore starting new churches is SW Minnesota.  Several communities were explored.  Funding was supplied by Minnesota Classis.

March 2001 -- JR Henderson met with interested members of the American Reformed Church, Luverne, to explore the possibility of planting a new church in the Luverne area.

June to November, 2001 -- Core group met regularly for Worship, Bible Study and prayer.  The group grew to six families during this time.

November 2001 to January 2002 -- Core group continued meeting to work on Vision, Mission, Philosophy of Ministry and Purpose for Ministry statements.  "New Life Celebration Church" was chosen as the name of the church.

February 10, 2002 -- The first of ten "Taste and See" events was held at the American Reformed Church in Luverne (Sunday nights at 5 pm).  There were 45 to 50 persons in attendance.  By the end of the ten weeks, the 100-person attendance mark had been broken twice.

April 14, 2002 -- On this day, known as "The Signing," twenty-two families signed on to join the family at New Life Celebration Church.

July 20, 2002 -- First morning worship for NLCC was held at Beaver Creek Lodge.

November 2003 -- Worship was moved to Beaver Creek Elementary School.

December 2004 -- Tim Olsen was installed as founding pastor.

September 2006 -- NLCC launched Sunday night worship at Garretson, South Dakota.

March 2008 - Tim Olsen left New Life Celebration to "do a new thing" in God's Kingdom work.
       from Isaiah 43:19:
             "I am about to do a new thing;
                now it springs forth, do you not perceive it?
             I will make a way in the wilderness
                and rivers in the desert."
